Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English (Poetry emphasis) at Pitt and a Master of Arts in Performance and Visual Practices at the University of Brighton in the United Kingdom. My educational experience includes six years of teaching English to middle grade students in South Korea. I work with students across a wide range of subject matter, but most enjoy those involving culture and the arts. Some of my favorites include Creative Writing, Critical and Cultural Theory, Critical Writing, Theater, and Performance Studies. Other areas include Philosophy, Reading, American Literature, Poetry Writing, Public Speaking, Phonics, and Grammar. I also assist with AP English courses and a variety of International Baccalaureate subjects, including Visual Arts, Theatre, Literature and Performance, and Philosophy. I see teaching as a means of sharing, and my approach is a reflection of my own experience, knowledge, and areas of interest. Education, formal or otherwise, represents a growth opportunity, and I plan to take advantage of that opportunity throughout my life. When I'm not working, I often pursue educational opportunities such as visiting galleries, reading nonfiction, and traveling. I also enjoy preparing spicy Korean food and sharing it with friends.
